We The People Of 2020

Winter is a season for my sadness
The mournful congregation gathers round
That great big Christmas tree out on the nation’s lawn
Put me in mind to write a song
We the people of 2020
Bound together far and near
And I wish I had some words of wisdom
But it has been too hard a year
They’ve gated up all my familiar places
By order of the Capital police
So I float around this city like those leaves that are falling down
Lately I don’t know my own town
But we’re the people of 2020
Bound together far and near
And I wish I had some words of wisdom
But all I got are a few more tears
La la la la
About we the people of 2020
Bound together far and near
And I wish I had some words of wisdom
But maybe someday we can grab a beer
Indoors
